DIY floral typography wall art

Spell it out in flowers…

Whether it’s a Valentine’s Day surprise, a wedding reception, or an engagement party, floral typography makes a beautiful contemporary alternative to traditional flower arrangements – and is the perfect way to bring a lacklustre wall to life.

We love this giant floral typography project from the Paper & Stitch blog because while it promises stunning results, it’s surprisingly simple to make. Pop a plus sign between your initials (or an ampersand if you’re feeling really ambitious) and let the love blossom.

What you’ll need:

  • Fresh flowers
  • Garland
  • Foam core or cardboard
  • Pencil
  • Box-cutter or sharp blade
  • Scissors
  • Paper awl (or similar)
  • Floral tape
  • Floral wire

Which flowers to use

For this project, anemones, veronicas, ranunculus and sweet peas were combined to create an eclectic mix of colours, forms and textures – set against a stunning backdrop of bayleaf and seeded eucalyptus. But don’t be afraid to experiment with your favourite seasonal blooms such as gerberas and freesias. For a more subtle effect, opt for a single shade or choose colours fading out from dark to light to create an on-trend ombre effect.
