Fashion and art favours flowers this autumn

Floral art catches the imagination

Autumn has been a creative time with a flurry of fashion shows and art fairs - both of which saw a spectacular standard of floral art on display.

Floral designs of course bloomed on the catwalks showcasing the Spring / Summer 2017 collections - however event floristry including outstanding floral art and installations also beautifully decorated fashion week, taking this years' offering to a whole new level of fairy tale and fantasy.
One notable standout was British Installation artist Rebecca Louise Law, who was commissioned by diamond brand Forevermark to create the centrepiece for their cocktail event on the eve of Milan Fashion Week.

Rebecca used 17,000 flowers to create the work of art for Forevermark which she called ‘White 2016’. Law used two types of white flowers: white Acroclinium and Rodanthe.

Rebecca said of 'White 2016', “I wanted the viewer to feel like they are standing within a field of diamonds, enveloped by nature within a fantastical sky of white and light.” Rebecca was inspired by the depth of thought and the consideration for mankind and nature that goes into sourcing each Forevermark diamond.

Digital media art makes waves

There was also one artist at this year’s fashionable Frieze London art fair who stood out head and shoulders above the rest simply by the unmissable amount of shares of her work on Instagram.

An artist very much in touch with the times, 'digital media artist' Jennifer Steinkamp's 'Botanic' which is a moving sculpture of flowers received high praise from both the public and art critics alike.

In the eye of the beholder
Steinkamp uses computer animation to create moving flowers so everyone who views the art sees it in a truly unique and personal way.
