Make your own floral beauty mask

Combine lavender and rose in this skin loving mask

It’s important to look after your body inside and out, so if you wouldn’t eat food packed with dodgy-sounding unpronounceable chemicals, why not treat your skin with the same respect? Like health food for your complexion, organic homemade beauty products are simple to make and kind to your skin. And if you’re looking to find nature’s own skin-loving ingredients, your flowerbeds are a good place to start.

Take the English rose – synonymous with glowing skin. We’ve already extolled its virtues as a bathroom cabinet staple with our five ways to use rose water to boost your complexion. But its uses does not stop there. We love this rose petal and lavender facemask, packed with natural, therapeutic ingredients, from Gardenista blogger Erin Boyle.

What you’ll need:

  • 2 cups bentonite clay powder
  • 1 cup ground oats
  • ¼ cup almonds
  • 1/8 cup dried lavender
  • 1/3 cup dried rose petals

What to do:

Grind your oatmeal and almonds and grind your rose petals and lavender. Mix this together with the bentonite clay using a stainless steel bowl and separate mixture into sealed jars. Sprinkle remaining petals and lavender on top.

TIP: Keep a jar for yourself then attach gift tags to the rest and give them as pretty handmade gifts.
