the different types of floral bouquets
Broadly speaking, bouquets can be divided into 3 types: mono, matching or mixed. A mono bouquet is a bouquet with one type of flower, such as a bouquet comprised of only tulips. A matching bouquet is a bouquet with two types of flowers, for example tulips and orchids, that 'match' each other. A mixed bouquet is a bouquet with different types of flowers, such as a combination of tulips, orchids, gypsophila, anemone and lisianthus. The bouquet you choose is entirely up to you. It's common for bouquets to be made up of different coloured flowers, but a monochrome bouquet (in just one colour) can be a surprisingly effective choice.
a white bouquet of flowers
Any colour bouquet counts as a monochrome one - for a bright effect, you could consider yellow, pink or red. A white bouquet, however, brings with it a sense of timeless elegance and makes for a stylish and serene picture! Get inspired by the three bouquets below.
a monochrome WHITE BOUQUET WITH ANEMONES
A mono bouquet has only one type of flower. Choose your favourite white flower, such as tulips, delicate freesias or beautifully scented lilies. We filled our vase with white petaled anemones.
Think carefully about the vase, in order to maintain the white palette. Choose a vase made of clear or frosted glass, or a purely white vase, as opposed to something brightly coloured. This simple yet elegant display brings peaceful calm into your home.
A matching white bouquet with TULIPS AND ORCHIDS
A paired bouquet combines two types of complimentary flowers: orchids with fringed tulips, for example.
As both flowers are white, it works well if you choose flowers with very distinctive shapes. You can also work with height to very good effect. With a few good stylistic choices, a simple paired bouquet is rapidly transformed into a showpiece!
A Mixed white bouquet with different types of flowers
Let your imagination run wild with a mixed bouquet, as long as the base colour remains white. Tulips and roses are a great choice here, but any flowers will work as long as they come in white.
A relaxed field bouquet works well with different flower types. Even a wild and playful display like this will maintain its calming effect if you use flowers in the same shade.
HOW TO KEEP YOUR WHITE BOUQUET BEAUTIFUL FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE
Brought your white bouquet home and settled it into a vase? Then you'll want to enjoy it for as long as possible. With the tips below you can keep your bouquet in your vase for as long as possible:
- Cut the flowers diagonally with a sharp and clean knife.
- Place the flowers in a clean vase with a little water at room temperature.
- Add cut flower food, if necessary, to extend the life of your flowers.
- Remove any leaves hanging in the vase water to prevent bacterial growth.
- Change the vase water regularly.
- Do not place your bouquet next to a fruit bowl, in direct sunlight or in a draught.
