YOU WILL NEED
- Eucalyptus leaf
- Lilac
- Distilled water and vodka (or just distilled water for an alcohol-free version)
- Cloves
- Cinnamon essential oil
- Orange essential oil
- Vanilla extract
- Spray bottle
* Vodka is necessary because water and oil do not mix, and the vodka helps everything mix together. You can also use tap water instead of distilled water, but your spray won't last as long.
**We prefer to use pure, organic essential oil, but be aware that if you have pets they should not ingest the oil as it can be harmful.
Scents and colours
Lilac has an amazing, instantly recognisably fragrance, and is the perfect choice of cut flower to make sure your house is filled with the soothing scent of petals. Vanilla extract, which helps disperse the essential oils in the water and vodka mixture, has a calming effect on the brain, alleviating anxiety, stress and nervousness. Orange essential oil has a fresh and slightly sweet scent, that pairs well with vanilla, while cinnamon essential oil, like the spice, has a warm, spicy, and comforting scent. It helps reduce insecurity, and provides a natural energy boost.
HOW TO MAKE a floral winter home spray
STEP 1
Fill the spray bottle to halfway with distilled water, then top it up with vodka.
STEP 2
Add a pinch of cloves and 15 to 30 drops of cinnamon and orange essential oils, fragrances that are full of the scent of winter. Experiment with the quantities until you’ve found a fragrance that works for you.
STEP 3
Add the lilac and eucalyptus to the spray bottle. They smell beautiful and will look chic in the bottle.
Spray your room spray in the hall, living room and bedroom to create a cosy winter atmosphere indoors. To maintain the scent for longer, place wooden sticks in the fragrance spray and arrange them in a shot glass. It's ideal for the smallest room in the house.
