You will need
- Edible flowers*, such as rose petals, Indian cress, lavender
- Ice cube shape, a square or a sphere
- Elderflower syrup
- Water (for clear ice cubes, it is best to use mineral water)
how to make it
Put an edible flower in each container of your ice cube tray. Slowly pour cold water on top of it. Use a measuring cup with a spout for this. Then carefully place them in the freezer. They will be ready after a few hours. Besides flowers, you can also use herbs (mint leaves, rosemary, lemon balm) and fruit (raspberries, blueberries).
For extra flavour, first mix the water with elderflower syrup. The syrup has no colour so the ice cubes remain clear. To keep the ice clear, it helps to have a constant temperature in the freezer (for example, by freezing a separate cooler) and to use mineral or distilled water. Good luck!
