Make these your resolutions for 2015 and we defy you not to feel your spirits lifted:
Invest in colourful vases
If you’re going to fill your home with flowers, you’re going to need the right vases. Go large and colourful for your main living space and buy smaller single-flower vases for landing windowsills, occasional tables, bathrooms and kitchens – or get creative with bottles and jars.
Buy seasonal blooms
Go seasonal this year and know that you are getting the freshest blooms at their very best to complement the time of year. From luscious winter amaryllis to romantic spring peonies, you will never have a dull month.
Find a favourite floral scent
Smelling a pleasant fragrance can have a dramatic impact on your wellbeing, according to studies – and what could be more pleasant than the scent of freshly cut flowers? As you can’t always have fresh flowers within smelling distance, find your signature floral scent and spritz as required.
Cook with edible flowers
New year cooking is all about being healthy. But healthy doesn’t have to mean boring. Brighten up a less-than-scintillating salad with a scattering of delicate and colourful edible flowers. Stick to the specialist shop-bought varieties that are now available in many supermarkets, as many flowers are poisonous.
Random acts of kindness
Let your loved ones know how much you care this year – and boost their happiness levels to boot – by surprising them with flowers when they least expect it.
