The ultimate summer-festival (or festival wedding) hair accessory

Whether you’re going to be tramping around Glastonbury in Hunters, hotpants and the obligatory embroidered kaftan – or getting hitched in a bohemian-themed festival-fairytale paradise, no bohemian nymph is complete without braided hair adorned with the prettiest of fresh flowers.

Everything’s rosie

A loose, mussed-up fishtail braid can look beautifully romantic with classic white and red roses and spray. The ‘undone’ texture of the hair gives the classic flowers a contemporary update.

Fairy princess

For a softer look, choose roses in pale pinks and pastel yellows, interspersed with smaller flowers. The asymmetric side-braid stops the look from appearing too structured and formal.

Daisy trail

A braid that starts right at the top of the crown and meanders all the way over the shoulders like a creeping vine looks stunning with a trail of simple white daisies following its path. A pretty but low-key look that would look equally pretty on flower-girls and festival-goers alike.

Go with the flow

If you’d like to embrace the braid trend but don’t want to wear your hair up, try plaiting just the front section of the hair and leaving the rest loose. Alternate pink and white daisies prevent the braid getting lost against the rest of the hair.

Crowning glory

Adorn this year’s must-have ‘do – the milkmaid braid – with a crown of flowers or interweave the braid with individual flower-heads. White ranunculus add a pretty finishing touch – or why not go a little bolder with black-centred anemonies, and a touch of foliage.
