You Will Need:
- Sterile empty bottle
- Dried rose buds or petals
- Neroli essential oil
- Carrier oil
How To:
Step 1
Gather your dried rose buds and/or petals and place into a clean, dry bottle. Filling the bottle about one-third full of dried flowers is a safe bet for a soft rose scented infusion, but feel free to customise this and add as many flowers as you wish.
*Note* It’s important to use fully dried flowers here as any water or moisture will effect the final product and could lead to bacteria growing in your body oil. To find out how to dry your own flowers follow our guide here.
Step 2
Fill the bottle with oil, seal and leave to infuse in a warm and sunny spot for 2-3 weeks. We used a high-quality cold-pressed organic sunflower oil (bought at the grocery store!) for our infusion, as it’s light in texture, moisturising and doesn’t have much of its own scent. Other oils you could use include olive oil, grapeseed, jojoba, hemp seed, avocado and even coconut - just be sure to buy the best quality you can find.
Step 3
Once the infusion time is up you can then add the essential oil. Add just 10-15 drops at first, then shake the bottle and sniff to see how the scent is for you. You may want to add more if you prefer a strong scented oil or you may wish to keep things mellow with a subtle hint of neroli to let the rose shine through.
Step 4 - optional
Depending on the bottle you used you can strain out the roses and transfer the oil into a new bottle or keep them in the oil for decorative purposes - it’s up to you!
All that’s left to do then is liberally apply your new rose & neroli scented body oil and enjoy super soft, floral scented skin.
