Rose vases de luxe

Make your own mini wigwam for your rose

The Queen of Flowers should have a special vase. The flower will get all the attention it deserves with this rugged yet elegant wigwam which you can make yourself. And as its creator you can enjoy all the praise.

Vases for your rose

The nice thing about crafting is that it clears your head and gives a great end-product. So get stuck in. For this craft project you need:

Rozen wigwam

  • White roses, or a different colour if you prefer.
  • Secateurs or sharp knife.
  • A saw.
  • Scissors.
  • Sandpaper.
  • Masking tape.
  • Test tubes, as many as you want to make vases.
  • Square copper dishes, also as many as you want to make vases.
  • Black furniture wax or shoe polish.
  • Polishing cloth.
  • Ribbed wooden poles (available by the metre in DIY stores).
  • Black Zpagetti or similar T-shirt yarn cord.

How to make the rose vases

Step 1: Saw the pole into lengths of around 20 centimetres. Lightly sand them and stick the tape around approximately one third of the pole. Rub furniture wax on the remainder.

Step 2: When you've made three poles tie them together with the Zpagetti. Make sure it's nice and tight, but leave enough space for the test tube.

Step 3: Hang the test tube in the wigwam. Check that it is secure enough for later when you fill the test tubes.

Step 4: Place the black and white wigwam on the copper dish: the edges of the dish will keep the poles in place. Trim or cut the roses diagonally, then carefully put water and the rose in the test tube. Now you just need to choose an eye-catching spot for your wigwam encampment with roses.
